Leopard in a Tree
This exquisite Leopard stopped to pose for me as he descended from a tree in the Serengeti, Tanzania.
Elephants at Dusk
This awesome image was shot from an enclosure at Tree Tops, Kenya. Tree Tops is a hotel on stilts overlooking
a watering hole. At dusk it's a hub of activity with all sorts of animals coming to drink. This was shot with a flash
and no filters. We also saw a black rhinceros at about 3am.... the hotel staff woke up anyone who wanted to see
the Rhino or other rare animals. Unfortunately it was a bit too far for my flash to be effective.
Mount Kilimanjaro
This famous mountain can best be seen from Amboseli National Park in Kenya although it lies mostly in Tanzania. Viewing
Kilimanjaro should be done in early morning before a ring of clouds around the peak ruins the view.
Mating Lions
These two lions in Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania, put on a frequent show for anyone who wants to watch.
Black Rhinoceros
We saw this Black Rhino and it's mate in Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. The high walls of the crater offer
natural protection from poachers.
Safari Vehicle Round-up
All of these jeeps converged on the scene where the Black Rhinos were sleeping in the tall grass of Ngorongoro
Crater, Tanzania. Everyone had to wait for them to emerge. A circus atmosphere emerges when rare animals are
found. Although this scene seems ridiculous it's nothing compared to the hoards of tourists and vehicles
found in Kenya. In general I found Tanzania to be much better for game viewing.
Rim View of Ngorongoro Crater
The view from the crater rim is spectacular. The crater is about 10 miles in diameter and 2000 feet deep. It provides
a year-round habitat so there is little need for the wildlife to migrate. The variety of wildlife is emense.
Lunch in Ngorongoro Crater
The edge of a small lake afforded us an excellent locale for a picnic lunch. We could even game watch while
eating... there were hippopotamus in the lake.
The Vast Soda Lake
The large soda lake in the middle of Ngorongoro Crater is not very deep. In this image you can see three wildebeest
running and ping flamingos in the background.
Female Lion
Lions were plentiful in Ngorongoro Crater.

More commonly known as wildebeest.
Mass Migration
The mass migration in was in the Masai Mara (Kenya) part of the Serengeti plains. From a distance it looked like a
rocky terrain. As you get closer you realize that all those 'rocks' are in fact thousands and thousands of
migrating animals. Smoke in the air from grass burning in Tanzania prevented a clear view.
Marabou Stork
This stork was up in the tree tops near the entrance of the lodge we stayed in on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater.
Masai Village
While in the Masai Mara it's possible to visit a Masai Tribal village. You'll have to pay the chief a 'fee' which
should be all inclusive. Once inside anyone you take a picture of will attempt to solicit additional money from you.
Bushbuck
These common antelope can be found in most areas.
Thompson's Gazelles
These gazelles are one of the smaller antelopes to be found.
Elephant in Samburu
This big boy was leading a heard of a dozen or so elephants.
Samburu Woman
Tribal dance performances offer the opportunity to see the traditional Samburu fashion.
Leopard
This Leopard was relaxing in the grass next to it's fresh dinner which appeared to be a rabbit.
Reticulated Giraffe
The reticulated giraffe is native to Northern Kenya. They have a very distinct pattern that separates them from
the common giraffe.
Tribesman near Mount Kenya
This dude had his entire body painted with white patterns seen here.
